"Sweetest of all my friends"

           I have to say, Gene and Mark Tan can be considered the sweetest and the most innocent people I have ever encountered. I first met Mark in church when he came up to me to introduce himself. I noticed he was shy but I felt a sense of security with him. He was so sweet-looking and so kind. Everytime I went to church, Mark and I would talk. However, he always seems to be talking about school all the time. Nevertheless, when I was having some fear about my AP exams, Mark gave me confidence and rooted me on.
          Gene also has that same sweet-looking face as his brother but at first impression, you would never notice he was shy. As it turned out, Gene was shyer than his brother. We didn't talk in church because he was so shy and timid. However, Jerence decided to introduce Gene to my sister and I. He came over my house over the summer and I was very comfortable with him from the start. I guess the best part about being friends with Gene was that he is the only one I can play a joke on. Gene, like Jerence, adores kids and I know he likes my brother a lot. Ahiya Gene and Ahiya Jerence often compete for the attention of my baby brother! Of course, how can a guy who likes Johnson Baby Cologne not be special?
          Like with the Go family, my family often sees the Tan family as well. Whenever this occasion would occur, mostly over the summer, all the teenagers would get together and just talk and have fun. I know that the Tan family has been through a lot ever since the death of a great and inspiring woman, their mother: Auntie Vergie. She died of cancer but we all know that she never really died. She is living inside the hearts of those who love her so much, especially her sons, her husband, her friends and Jerence. I would have loved to know her and talk to her. However, I know that every great quality in her is seen in each of her four sons.
          I often wish that Mark would truly consider me as his friend and that perhaps he may confide in me whenever he needs someone to talk to. I am hoping that once I return to the US, our friendship will blossom even more. Well, as for Gene, I think he has found someone special already. Nevertheless, the Tan family deserves nothing less but the best. God bless them and I hope they know that I'm always there for them…..
